Vegan Buttercream Frosting

It took me a year to figure out this recipe for vegan buttercream frosting. Don't ask why it took so long, but until I read the jar of store bought frosting, it never occurred to me to use shortening rather than vegan "butter" but it makes all the difference.

This vegan cake frosting is rich, smooth, and the perfect consistency for frosting cakes. Try this carrot cake recipe with cinnamon maple frosting - I used this basic vegan frosting recipe, then adjusted it to include cinnamon and maple for extra flavor.

Here is the recipe for The Home Baked Vegan's "Buttercream" Frosting:

Ingredients:
1 Cup Vegetable Shortening
5 Cups Powdered Sugar
3 Tbsp Cashew Milk
2 Tbsp Vanilla Extract

Method:

In a large bowl, with an electric mixer, whip together all ingredients until smooth and fluffy.

Store in the refrigerator and use to frost your favorite cakes.

Enjoy!
